HAYES - Michael J. Hayes aged 37 years, died this morning at St. John's hospital. The body was removed to the funeral parlors of Undertaker Charles H. Molloy and later was taken to the late home of the deceased, 9 Conlon's court, off Fayette street. Deceased is survived by a wife, Mary; three sons, Michael, James and Joseph; one daughter, Rose; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Kelleher, Mrs. William Green, the latter of Taunton, and one brother, James Hayes.

After the death of his first wife, Catherine Muldoon Hayes in 1897, Michael Hayes remarried Mary Flannery in Lowell in June 1899.

Mr. Hayes's death certificate names his father as Michael Hayes, and does not provide his mother's name. Other historical records identify her as Bridget Driscoll. He was a mill operative at the time of his death from "congestion of the lungs."
