Albert Ambrose Schaffer

Albert "Al" Schaffer, 93, of Whitewood, S.D., died April 3, 2008 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center.

As per Al's wishes cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held at a later date, with inurnment to follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife,son,daughter,3 brothers,sister and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Black Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Sturgis.

A funeral Mass will be held June 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery, with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements were announced by Black Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Sturgis.

His wife, Maureen Schaffer, died on June 2, 2008.

A memorial service for both Schaffer and his wife will also be held June 15 at Hale Hall in Whitewood.

He was preceded in death by wife, Lillian.
