Joseph C. Reedy, age 106, formerly of Creekwood Apartments, Morton, Ill., Sunwest Homes, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Atwood, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton, Ill.

Joseph C. (Neil) Reedy was born Aug. 23, 1903, in Atwood, Ill., to James G. Reedy and Nellie M. Reedy. He married Clara May Howey in 1934. She passed away March 23, 1997, in Casa Grande, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Joseph served in the U.S. Army during 1925 and 1926.

He farmed for 18 years and then became a heavy-equipment operating engineer in Illinois.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers in Terre Haute, Ind. He and his wife also owned and operated the Dairy Bar drive-in restaurant in Atwood, Ill., from 1953 to 1963.

He was a 72-year member of the Atwood, Ill., Masonic Lodge, a 54-year member of the Springfield, Ill., Scottish Rite and a 54-year member of the Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield, Ill.

He was of the Christian faith, attending the Christian church in Pierson Station, Ill., United Methodist Church of Atwood, Ill., and later the Christian Church of Casa Grande, Ariz.
