(SKIB EAGLE 23/10/1915) \endash BRAVO CLON \endash During the forthcoming week a draft of fifty-five thousand men are being despatched from the Blackdown Camp, Farnborough, Hants, England, to some base at the Front \endash exact destination censored. This big contingent includes three Clonakilty men of the famous 9th Battalion of the RMF. They were home this week on furlough, getting exactly four days respite in which to see their families. Three respectable men of the working class. It will be remembered that they were three of the recruits who volunteered with Captain Roberts at the Clonakilty Recruiting meeting, and joined the colours as a direct result of that meeting. They were trained at the Ballyvonare Camp Buttevant, from which they were transferred to England. Messers Allman and Sullivan are men leaving large families behind \endash all three are excellent soldiers in the pink of condition, and we wish them a speedy and a safe return.

• Military Service. Some information on Jeremiah Hayes. This was his second time serving in the British Forces. He served in the RMF Militia and then the Regular Army in 1898. He served in the Boer War and probably had the two South African medals and the Indian General Service medal to go with his WWI medals. One of the medals was at Elizabeth Hayes's house for a while but there is no knowledge of its location now.

Jeremiah joined the 9th Battalion of the Royal Munster Fusiliers, 16th (Irish) Division -
