Born to June Beal and Kathryn Thrapp, Sept 4, 1924 in Wenatchee WA., passed away Nov 1, 2012 at Mission Healthcare at Bellevue.
His whole life was filled with his love of sports. Attended Wenatchee High School and became a football great of the early 40's for the Panthers and earned the name as the "Hipper Dipper". He took this name with him to Eastern WA College where he became the "Elusive Halfback" for the Savages. College was interrupted while he served in the Army from 1943-46 with the Coast Artillery Anti aircraft units in France, Belgium and Germany as a cannoneer. He returned to Eastern to complete his education. After graduation from Eastern he went to Manson High School to become Principal and Football Coach. He later moved to Seattle to become the head of the P.E. Dept. at Roosevelt High School and Assistant Football Coach to Don Harney and the Rough Riders. He also had an award winning boys golf team and great girls' softball team. There wasn't a sport he didn't attempt. He retired from teaching in 1986. His retirement years were spent golfing, cheering on the Huskies and traveling British Columbia, Hawaiian Islands and the Western and Southwest State Parks.
