Leonard J. "Bud" Thrapp

Born to June Beal and Kathryn Thrapp, Sept 4, 1924 in Wenatchee WA., passed away Nov 1, 2012 at Mission Healthcare at Bellevue.

His whole life was filled with his love of sports. Attended Wenatchee High School and became a football great of the early 40's for the Panthers and earned the name as the "Hipper Dipper". He took this name with him to Eastern WA College where he became the "Elusive Halfback" for the Savages. College was interrupted while he served in the Army from 1943-46 with the Coast Artillery Anti aircraft units in France, Belgium and Germany as a cannoneer. He returned to Eastern to complete his education. After graduation from Eastern he went to Manson High School to become Principal and Football Coach. He later moved to Seattle to become the head of the P.E. Dept. at Roosevelt High School and Assistant Football Coach to Don Harney and the Rough Riders. He also had an award winning boys golf team and great girls' softball team. There wasn't a sport he didn't attempt. He retired from teaching in 1986. His retirement years were spent golfing, cheering on the Huskies and traveling British Columbia, Hawaiian Islands and the Western and Southwest State Parks.

Bud is survived by his wife of 35 years Clara - Daughters Karyn Schneider (Stephen) of Redmond - Lorie Jaussaud (Mike Reza) of Renton - Stepdaughters Catherine Moore (Craig) of Port Orchard and Wanda Robertson of Everett, 5 grand children and 7 great grand children - sisters Pauline Nielands of Pullman, Maryann Winn of Olympia, Katherine Carrol (Joe) of CA, Carol Knutson (Bob) of Issaquah and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded by brothers Robert (Helen), Howard (Freda) and first wife Betty Freeman.

We want to thank the staff at Mission Healthcare at Bellevue and especially Kim and Karen for the care and comfort they gave to Bud.

No memorial service is planned at this time with internment pending. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the .
