Obituary for Joseph Donahue
Joseph Thomas Donahue, age 88, of Glendive, Montana, formerly of Williston, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. (CST), Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Riverview Cemetery in Williston, North Dakota. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements. Joe was born on December 4, 1916 in Williston, North Dakota, the son of Joseph M. and Bridget (Shea) Donahue. His family were old timers - very well known in Williston. Joe lived most of his life at the family home, 402 2nd Avenue East, now known as the "Victorian Cottage". He attended grade school and high school thru the 12th grade. Following his high school education, he attended college at Grand Forks, North Dakota. Joe returned home after two years and worked for the Model Meat Market (his father's business for years). In November of 1942, Joe joined the U.S. Air Force and served until 1946 when he returned home and worked at the Model Clothing Store and Montgomery Ward. On July 7, 1987, Joe married Marilyn, the girl he had loved since 1952. It was 32 years before they met again and were married at St. Joseph's Church, where Joe was a lifetime member. After he married Marilyn, he would boast of acquiring four children, six grandchildren and a dog. Joe and Marilyn resided in California and traveled all over the world. He was a 50 year member of the Elks, and a member of the Moose Lodge and V.F.W. His hobbies included collecting old cameras and coin collecting. Joe is survived by Marilyn who resides in Scotts Valley, California.
